The Desert Giant

The protagonist in the tale is a young girl called Afra. Her parents, who are both tourists, opt to relocate to the desert region where the father was born and establish an eco-tourism dwelling there.

After the move, Afra finds herself friendless and unhappy due to the enforced migration. Consequently, she spends most of her time in the desert accompanied by a small hedgehog.

In the desert, there exists a mountainous region which locals describe in legends and tales. The story goes that a giant was banished from the city many years before the 13th of Nowruz, and presently, he and his offspring reside in the mountains where they attack mountain climbers, making it hazardous and insecure. They believe that the giants generate storms and darkness with their breath, causing mountaineers to lose their way.
